PRN Mental Health Technician

An exciting PRN/On-Call opportunity for anyone looking to supplement their income and expand their knowledge of residential treatment!
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the well being of assigned clients at Adele Gilbert Residential treatment facilities.
PRIMARY RESPOSIBILITIES:
All Shifts
Maintain an ongoing awareness of clients whereabouts and maintain wellness and accountability reports.
Monitor and record all medications taken by clients.
Provide supportive client counseling and a positive role model for the development of socialization and other skills for all residents.
Observe and assist clients at meals and snack times, especially noting those with diet restrictions or considerations.
Keep the supervisor informed of changes in appearance of behavior of the clients, needed supplies and any areas of concern.
Schedule, supervise, and assist as necessary with activities of daily living (showers, using restroom, laundry and clean-up chores), doctor appointments and outing/in-house activities.
Record behavior and interactions of the clients with staff and peers.
Take verbal reports from the previous shift and read the staff communications book, notices, memos and new client charts to ensure smooth shift transition of care.
Uphold and enforce the Florida Patient Bill of Rights.
Must ensure concise and timely completion of all paperwork or documentation, including but not limited to, administrative, clinical and case load requirements.
Respond to emergencies and provide crisis intervention.
Ensure and safeguard the human and legal rights of clients, their families, and co-employees at all times.
Represent GCJFCS in an ethical and professional manner in the community
Adhere to policies and laws regarding fraternization with clients.
Provide quality services and maintain desired productivity level as defined by supervisor.
Transport consumers to and from outings, activities, between buildings, and to doctors appointments.
Will be able to demonstrate co-occurring competency daily.
SECONDARY RESPOSIBILITIES:
All Shifts
Responsible for answering and directing phone calls, and taking messages on weekends and/or when clerical staff isnt available.
Make reports to incoming staff (all shifts).
Monitor and supervise clients one-on-one or conduct frequent checks, such as W&As.
Ensure a safe and drug-free workplace and participate in the risk management and quality improvement programs.
Adhere to company confidentiality practices at all times.
Perform all other duties assigned by the supervisor, to include assistance with therapeutic & activities groups (as assigned).
Responsible for taking the freezer and refrigerator temperatures.
Complete items on your shifts particular assignment sheet on time and thoroughly.
7:45a.m. 4:15p.m.
3:45p.m. 12:15a.m.
Locate and alert clients of mealtimes, medication, group therapy, and schedules.
Assist case management and day treatment staff as necessary.
Prompt clients to exercise, attend and participate in groups and orient new clients.
11:45p.m. 8:15a.m.
Awake clients in the morning and supervise/assist as necessary with ADLs, putting on clean clothes, making their beds and maintaining good hygiene.
Conduct a room check every two hours to ensure clients are accounted for and are in no distress.
Provide emotional support and supervision to clients unable to sleep, and monitor smoking, snacks, and TV viewing.
Complete paperwork delegated to night shift (i.e., laundry, shower, and clean-up schedules) and place staff notes with the appropriate information in the charts.
Check windows, doors, and secure facility as needed.
Remind clients of appointments, activities, etc. for the day.
ACCESS TO PROTECTED HEALTH INFORMATION:
Will be knowledgeable in and practice all Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services/Gulf Coast Community Care policies and procedures related to privacy and security practices cited in the Health Insurance Portability and Privacy Act (HIPPA) applicable to my program and position.
BASIC STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE:
Attendance and punctuality are prerequisites of satisfactory performance.
Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Familiarity with company mission and adherence to the companys philosophy of continuity of quality care.
Satisfactory completion of primary and secondary duties and responsibilities of the position as required by management and supervision.
Meet the minimum requirements and demands of the position, including funding goals and objectives.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of human development including the process of aging.
Knowledge of community organizations and resources for the elderly.
Knowledge of emergency medical procedures, CPR, Team and Basic Health Needs.
Knowledge of personal development.

Must attend relevant skills-enhancement training and demonstrate required program-specific knowledge.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
High school graduate or equivalent. Experience in a geriatric or mental health treatment setting preferred. Training and certification in Team, CPR/First Aid, and Basic Health needs.
Must participate in at least 10 hours of continuing education/training per year.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT/OTHERS:
Ability to work under stressful client situations.
Ability to work overtime when required.
Ability to lift and/or carry medications, supplies, etc. up to 25 lbs. and assist in transferring wheelchair clients, when required.
All designated drivers must have a valid Florida drivers license. Must maintain a good driving record.
Documentation stating that employee is free from communicable diseases.
Ability to monitor and observe clients visibly and audibly.
Potential exposure to clients who may be verbally and/or physically aggressive.
Must wear personal protective equipment as required by the exposure control plan and safety program.
Potential exposure to communicable diseases and Bloodborne pathogens. Must attend the exposure control seminar.
Know the locations of the facilitys fire alarms, extinguishers, exits, protective equipment and first-aid kits. Be familiar with the facilitys evacuation routes, exposure control, and disaster plans.



Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
